Elongated Blue Sapphire Drop on 14k Gold Necklace

This elongated blue sapphire is faceted and polished on one side, smooth on the other, and is set into a hand-wrought 14k gold bail on a solid 14k gold chain with two smaller sapphires on either side of the clasp. 

Blue sapphires are precious gemstones formed from the mineral corundum, which is blue due to iron trace elements and titanium. It is extremely hard, with a hardness of 9 out of 10, making it very durable.

The sapphire is the September birthstone, and it is often gifted on the 5th and 45th wedding anniversaries. They represent loyalty, truth, and honesty.

Necklace measures 26″ long and the sapphire drops 1 3/4″ from the chain.
